Michelle Bachmann may not know it, but there is a way she could say good bye to her migraines forever – by using Homeopathy.
She recently took the unusual step of releasing her medical records to the media in an effort to prove her tendency to migraines would not impede her, should she ever become President. Her doctor mentioned that Mrs Bachmann was successfully “able to control” a migraine when she got one.
Pharmaceutical medicine is all about control: the management of symptoms and pain. It is not about finding out why you got a particular symptom, getting to the root of it and freeing yourself from it. This is one of the reasons pharmaceutical companies are the richest in the world. If you don’t keep buying their products, then your symptoms will return with full force. It’s a great business plan!
Her doctor name-checked two drugs that Mrs. Bachmann uses when migraines strike her. The first one is Sumatriptan, also known as Imitrex and Alsuma, a selective serotonin receptor agonist. On checking the small print we find common side effects include:
Anxiety; burning, numbness, or tingling of the skin; dizziness; drowsiness; feeling of heaviness, pressure, or tightness; feeling strange; mild, temporary flushing; muscle aches or cramps; nausea; neck stiffness; pain, swelling, redness, bruising, or bleeding at the injection site; sick feeling; stomach upset; throat or sinus discomfort; tight feeling in the head; tingling; tiredness; vomiting; warm or hot sensation; weakness.
While SEVERE side effects include:
Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); bloody diarrhea; chest pain; confusion; fainting; fast or irregular heartbeat; fever; hallucinations; hearing problems or loss of hearing; numbness or tingling of an arm or leg; one-sided weakness; pain, tightness, or pressure in the jaw, neck, or chest; seizures; severe headache, dizziness, or vomiting; severe or prolonged flushing; severe stomach pain; shortness of breath; speech changes; trouble swallowing; very cold or blue fingers or toes; vision changes or loss of vision; wheezing.
The second drug in Michelle Bachmann’s armory is called Odansetron, commonly used to prevent the nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery. It belongs toa class of medications called 5-HT3 receptor antagonists and it works by blocking serotonin, a naturally occurring substance that can cause nausea and vomiting. More small print reveals that this drug may cause:
Headache, light headedness, dizziness, drowsiness, tiredness, or constipation may occur. serious side effects occur: stomach pain, muscle spasm/stiffness, vision changes (e.g., temporary loss of vision, blurred vision). chest pain, fainting, slow/fast/irregular heartbeat, severe dizziness. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction include: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
By the way this is not even a complete list! This is no surprise, we are all way too familiar with TV ads that scroll down an endless list of side effects.
If Michelle Bachmann ever broke with convention and had a consultation with a homeopath, the homeopath would surely talk to her not only about side effects but also about the dangers of suppressing symptoms, in general, and violent symptoms like migraines, in particular.
Imagine Mrs.Bachmann is a pan cooking on the stove top. The stresses and strains of her life occasionally bubble over and she gets a migraine. Now let’s imagine we take that pan and we put a pressure cooker lid on it. Just for good measure let’s stick a brick on top on the pan lid, too! Now, absolutely nothing can escape, not even a tiny whiff of steam. The stresses and strains are all still there, of course, bubbling away, because no one is even attempting to address them. Poor Michelle is slowly getting her goose cooked! Still on the outside it’s all looking good.
A professional homeopath would ask her for a wish list. On that wish list Mrs. Bachmann could name check everything she wanted to be different in her life, physically, emotionally, mentally. At the top of her list might be “Help me get rid of these migraines and become the leader of the free world.” Next the homeopath would ask her about the migraines. Can you describe them in detail? What exactly are they like? What triggers them? What makes them feel better or worse? Is there a pattern to them?
After an in-depth interview of up to two hours the homeopath would use sophisticated computer software to seek out a substance in nature that could produce a set of symptoms just like Mrs Bachmann’s in a healthy person. That is because the founding principle of Homeopathy is that “Like cures like.” This very individually selected remedy would be given to Michelle in a tiny dose and her migraines would become a thing of the past. Inadvertently, she would also have stumbled upon the answer to the US crippling medical costs. Symptomatic treatment is expensive and only shifts the symptoms to deeper and deeper levels. Holistic approaches like Homeopathy get the job done and it stays done. They put much less of a financial strain on the country and less of a physical drain on the patient.
This is all very fine and dandy, but Mrs Bachmann visiting a homeopath is a tad hypothetical. So let’s round this off this blog with these parting words from Allison O’Shea, who did consult a homeopath, me, and kindly wanted to share her experience with you all.
“My neuro-surgeon told me to expect to live with migraines and pain forever. Mary offered me hope – I had three consults over the telephone with her. Although the first remedy she gave me helped, it was when she fine tuned her choice and gave me a second remedy that things really changed. Two weeks after her second choice remedy, it was like a switch had been turned off, no headaches, no anger- in fact joy and happiness. Mentally and physically everything changed overnight. I would go as far as to say it was miraculous.”
Allison O”Shea.
Michelle, if you are reading this, I’m happy to help.
Remember, Homeopathy is very simple to use for first aid situations and minor illnesses, including headaches after too much sun exposure, dehydration or rich foods you can treat yourself with a homeopathic kit.
For chronic headaches or migraines seek Constitutional care.
